The ALM Cycling Route

Push your limits with this unique cross-border cycling route, where the stunning Heuvelland Cycle Route, RAVeL 39/38, and the Maas Route come together in an exciting 120 km loop through the Dutch Heuvelland, the Land of Herve, and along the banks of the Meuse in Liège and Maastricht.

Your adventure begins on the majestic Sint-Pietersberg in Maastricht, the starting point of the Heuvelland Cycle Route. From there, you’ll ride 41.1 km through the picturesque Dutch Heuvelland toward the iconic Vaalserberg. At the Three-Country Point, where the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany meet, the next chapter begins. Here, you pick up the RAVeL 39/38, which takes you 50 km to enchanting Liège. Enjoy sweeping meadows and colorful orchards in the Land of Herve as you cycle along former railway lines 39 and 38 all the way to Liège.

From Liège, continue your journey along part of the scenic Maas Route back to Sint-Pietersberg in Maastricht. During the 34 km between Liège and Maastricht, you’ll follow the gentle Meuse, passing the fascinating Caestert Passage and the impressive Lanaye Lock Complex.
